Manipur Unrest: Villagers assured AR will be deployed in inter-community boundary

Amid the unrest, the Assam Rifles interacted with the Kukis and Meiteis at National Sports University.

The Jwalamukhi sector Assam Rifles on Thursday interacted with the Kukis and Meiteis at National Sports University in its efforts to maintain peace and security in the Leimakhong region regarding the prevailing crisis in the state, stated a release.

A statement mentioned that Commandant Agartala Battalion of AR assessed the situation in due time and deputed JCOs belonging to Kuki and Meitei tribe to interact with village elders of Kharam Village (Kuki village) and Sengam Chirang Village (Meitei village) respectively.

The villagers were assured that AR will be deployed on the inter-community boundary and will negate the occurrence of any such violence in the region, it continued.
