Amid the efforts being made to restore normalcy in Manipur, a gun battle reportedly took place between the Indian Army’s 21 Para (SF) Special Forces and the proscribed People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in Manipur around 8.30 am on Tuesday, sources said.
Accordign to the sources, the incident occurred near Rilram Centre and Khoibu Centre under Machi Police Station in Tengnoupal district, near Lairam Phungka in Kamjong district.

As many as four personnel of the 21 Para SF sustained bullet injuries in the exchange of fire, and were evacuated in two helicopters, the sources said.
The villagers of Lairam Phungka were told not to venture out of their villages by the security forces, as per the sources, adding that villagers of Lairam Phungka reported seeing the two helicopters flying towards Khoibu Centre around 10.45 am.
Meanwhile, Machi Police Station has stated that they have not received any reports concerning the said exchange of fire between the 21 Para SF and the PLA. However, the villagers of Kasom Khullen reported hearing loud noises from the Khoibu Centre side around 8 am on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, essential commodities such as food, ration and water were transported in helicopters for the security forces such as Manipur Police Commando and paramilitary forces which are stationed there, the sources added.
