Decrying the blast at the residence of PWD minister Y Khemchand at Singjamei in Imphal West that took place on Saturday night, womenfolk of the local staged a sit-in protest at the minister's locality on Sunday.
The protestors held placards with messages such as "We condemn the blast in a residential area," "We want peace," and "Stop acts of terror," among others.
Yambem ongbi Shantibala, a protestor, expressed strong condemnation of the blast in the residential area, especially when there are already significant state issues at hand.
She emphasised that misunderstandings can be resolved through dialogue and considered such terrorising acts as acts of cowardice.
Shantibala pointed out that such acts of violence can result in the loss of precious lives and questioned, "If there had been deaths during the blast, who would take responsibility?"
She urged all concerned parties not to repeat such terrorizing acts in the future, particularly in residential areas.
The blast reportedly led to injuries to a CRPF officer and the niece of minister Khemchand.
