Film Forum Manipur on Friday urged the Central and state government to chalk out effective strategies to resolve the prevailing communal crisis in Manipur and restore peace and tranquillity in the state.
The forum, in a release, expressed grief over the sufferings and hardships caused by the conflict, adding that countless lives have been shattered by the violence, many have been forcibly displaced and numerous properties destroyed. It also paid homage to those who lost their lives during the ongoing conflict, it stated.
It urged the Central and state government to take up steps to ensure the SoO Militants return to their designated camps and also demanded to arrest the militants terrorising the Meitei villages in the peripheral areas and award them befitting legal punishments.
The forum further expressed discontentment at the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister for allegedly remaining a mute spectator amid the communal crisis in the state and urged them to carve out measures to solve the issue without further delay. It also condemned the demand of the 10 Kuki MLAs of the state for separate administration and demanded withdrawal of the same.
The Forum maintained that it will stand against those attempting to jeopardise the integrity of Manipur and further urged people of all communities to set aside personal and communal differences and strive together for peace and harmony and to protect the state’s integrity.
