The Manipur government has further relaxed the curfew timing for Imphal East, Imphal West and Kangpokpi districts on Monday, June 12.
While the curfew in Imphal East and Imphal West districts has been lifted from 5 am to 8 pm, citing improvement in the prevailing law and order, curfew in Kangpokpi has been partially relaxed from 5 am to 3 pm.
Curfew has been relaxed in Kangpokpi district to enable the general public to buy essential items, including food and medicines but prohibits gathering of people for any other purposes, the Kangpokpi district administration stated.
All persons belonging to essential services such as health, PHED, electricity, media personnel and functioning of courts will be exempted from the further imposition of curfew after the expiry of the said period of relaxation, it added.
The three districts, along with other violence-hit districts, have been under curfew since 7 pm of May 3 in view of the law and order situation in the state until further order.
Meanwhile, state Information Minister Sapam Ranjan on Saturday said the state witnesssed a peaceful environment since Friday morning with no reports of any untoward incidents.
