The Manipur government has relaxed the curfew timing from 5 am to 6 pm for both Imphal East and Imphal West while on Wednesday, July 13.

Imphal West additional magistrate N Johnson Meitei stated that there is considerable improvement of law and order in the district. Therefore, curfew has been lifted from 5 am to 6 pm for all areas of Imphal West district to facilitate the general public to purchase essential items, including medicines and food items.

However, movement of persons belonging to essential services such as health, PHED, electricity, Municipal officials/staff, media personnel and functioning of courts will be exempted from further imposition of curfew after the expiry of the said period of relaxation, the additional district magistrate stated.

Imphal East district magistrate Khumanthem Diana Devi also stated that curfew has been relaxed from 5 am to 6 pm on July 13 for all areas of the district to facilitate the general [public to purchase essential items including medicines and food items,

The curfew was imposed under Section 144 of the CrPC in violence-hit districts of Manipur. The state has been in turmoil since the outbreak of a series of violence on May 3.
