It further stressed the need for the Central and State Government to critically analyse the situation, whether the recent outbreak of the conflict was really an unexpected incident or whether it was a distraction made by the government and SoO militants to mislead the public in another issue for a hidden agenda all along.

The organisation lamented that the prevailing communal riot in the state could have been prevented had the authorities concerned heeded their appeal, made before the conflict even broke out, it mentioned.

AMUCO further highlighted the hardships facing the people owing to the prevailing communal unrest between two major Communities of the State. It urged the leaders of both the Communities as well as all the other ethnic Communities to make whole hearted efforts to solve the issue and bring back peace and normalcy in the State, it added.

Mentioning about the reported looting of arms and ammunition from various Police Station across the State by people of the two communities following the conflict, the Organisation noted the reports of the State Government’s stringent order to submit the arms to the respective police Stations. It went on to ask the Government whether the pressure mounted to the people of the valley regarding the same, is equally carried out in the Hill areas as well, it  stated.

AMUCO asserted that it is the utmost duty of the Central and State Government to carry out actions, initiatives equally between the two sides in order to bring peace and normalcy in the State again. It maintained that failing to do so will only hinder efforts in solving the prevailing issue, it added.

The Organisation also decried the alleged rumours of Assam Rifles aiding SoO Militants, and appealed the State Government to look into the matter and take necessary actions at the earliest. It maintained that the prevailing unrest or any unwanted incidents in the State will be subdued or prevented when the SoO Militants abide by the agreements made with the Government, it mentioned.

AMUCO further reiterated its stand on maintaining peaceful coexistence and protecting the state’s integrity, the release added..
