Manipur: UG cadre arrested

The arrested person along with the seized items has been handed over to Nongpok Sekmai police station for further necessary legal action, sources said.

A combined team of commando unit, Thoubal district along with a column of 16 Assam Rifles arrested one cadre of proscribed underground organisation RPF on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off about the presence of some active cadres of the proscribed underground organisation in and around Chandrakhong area, the combined team rushed to the said spot immediately at about 8 pm, sources said.  The team conducted random frisking and checking of suspected persons.

During the operation, one unknown youth was found walking from Chandrakhong side towards Mayai Keithel side in a suspicious manner, it further stated. On his suspicious behaviour, the unknown youth was detained for verification, it mentioned.

During verification, he identified himself as one Khangembam Ramananda Singh alias Wangba, 38, son of late Kh Judhir Singh of Chandrakhong Mamang Leikai an active member of proscribed underground organisation RPF/PLA, it stated.

He further disclosed that he joined the outfit in 2001 and underwent 45-day basic training at Phailen camp of the outfit. He said he is working under the command of one self-styled chief of the organisation, Angou, it further stated.

Ramananda was arrested at 8.30 pm from Chandrakhong by observing formalities.

On thorough body search. one mobile phone, 2 SIM cards were detected from his possession and seized by observing formalities.
