The first body, identified as that of a woman, was found at the Puran Bazar Ferry Ghat in Banskandi, Cachar district, Assam.

It was discovered by a team from Lakhipur Police. While there has been no official confirmation of the woman’s identity, eye witnesses suggest she may be 66-year-old Yurembam Rani Devi, one of the six victims abducted in Jiribam. The body has been sent to the Silchar Medical College Hospital.

In a separate incident, a child’s body was found wrapped in a sack in the Tolenkhun area, also along the Barak River. The discovery was made by a team of Lakhipur Police and the State Disaster Response Force.

These new recoveries follow the discovery of three other bodies earlier a couple of days back of two children and another woman found in the Barak and Jiri rivers.

All five bodies are believed to belong to the victims abducted during the November 11 attack.

Authorities are continuing their investigation but have not yet confirmed the identities of the recovered remains.

The report about bodies of all six abducted women and children found published in IFP was based on the report of Barak Bulletin and other central news channels.
