Manipur: Two injured in firing incident

The two injured were moved to district hospital Churachandpur.

Two individuals were reportedly injured in a firing incident in Kakching district after two rounds of gunfire and three explosion sounds were heard in Tangjing Ahallup area under the jurisdiction of Sugnu Police station, Kakching district on Saturday at around 11.30 am.

Kakching district police officers and personnels rushed to the spot to control the situation. Later, the SP of Churachandpur reported that the bombs hit G Songgel village under the jurisdiction of Sangaikot police station, Churachandpur district adjoining ITBP camp.

According to the SP, two villagers were injured in the incident and were moved to district hospital Churachandpur. Churachandpur police, BPR Police, BSF, AR and CRPF were also alerted about the incident.

The injured villagers are identified as Jamkhomang Baite, 25, son of Thonglim and one minor boy namely Mangboi, son of Boipu both from Patjang village, Churachandpur district. Jamkhomang was injured in both upper limb and back (multiple superficial pallets) and the boy got a minor injury.

Further, Kakching district police and 167 bn BSF rushed to the area and conducted cordon and search operation at Tangjeng Khunjao and Mangjil areas from 12 noon till 1.30 pm. No arrest nor recovery were reported.
