Manipur: Two cadres of new outfit arrested

The Police Control Room, Manipur Police on Sunday stated two persons who are part of a gang identified as Salailen Mapari (Kangleipak Defence Force) which is involved in theft, extortion and anti-social activities have been arrested.

The arrested persons are one individual identified as Moirangthem Lanchenba Meetei, 18, and apprehended one child in conflict with law from Imphal West, stated a release.

One .32 pistol with one magazine, one 9mm pistol with one magazine loaded with four 9mm ammunitions, one SBBL gun mounted with one telescope, one Chinese hand grenade, five wireless sets, one round seal of Salailen Mapari KDF, one blue flag of Salailen Mapari KDF, one each of camouflage cap, jacket, BP black vest, camouflage full shirt and trouser, sixteen letter heads of Salailen Mapari Kangleipak Defence Force, one 4 wheeler vehicle, one motorcycle were reecovered, it stated.

A case has been registered for further investigation. During the last 24 hours, the situation in the State was under control, it further stated.

Search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts, it mentioned.

Movement of 233 vehicles NH-02 respectively with essential items have been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it mentioned.

A total of 114 nakas/checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police detained 347 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state, it further said.

It appealed to the general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos. Any circulation of unfounded videos etc. may be confirmed from the rumour free number 9233522822 of Central Control room, it mentioned. It further appealed  to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
