An 18-year-old boy admitted at Raj Medicity Imphal after he was injured in bomb attacks allegedly by Kuki militants at Phougakchao succumbed to his injury on Thursday night, while another was injured in fresh gunfight at Tera Khongsangbi in Bishnupur district on Friday.
Sources said that the gunfight between Kuki militants and village volunteers along with state commando personnel has been continuing since early Friday and at around 3:40 pm, the gunfire escalated along with bombs and RPGs from Kuki militants.
The village volunteers and state commando also retaliated the attack during which a village volunteer was hit by a bullet, suspected to be from a sniper, in his abdomen while two Kuki militants are also reported dead.
The Kuki militants reportedly attacked the village volunteers and state forces from Maulngat, Churachandpur district. The injured have been rushed to Raj Medicity for treatment.
Meanwhile, the teenager, identified as Longjam Naocha, 18, of Phougakchao was injured during a bomb attack allegedly by Kuki militants on Wednesday morning and has been undergoing treatment at Raj Medicity, Imphal.
Hospital authorities said he succumbed to his injury at the hospital at around 9:38 pm on Thursday.
