Manipur: Tribal volunteers condemn ITLF, impose shutdown

Sources said that the Kuki volunteers deployed at the frontline have not received their ration for the past three-four days.

The cadres of the United tribal volunteers (UTV) held protests on Friday night against the ITLF and Kuki Inpi for depriving them of their ration at Tuibong traffic junction, Churachandpur.

The enraged volunteers also imposed a complete shutdown of Churachandpur district on Saturday.

As per sources, a large number of UTV cadres gathered at Tuibong Traffic Junction on Friday around 11 pm.

The protestors came out and chanted various slogans against ITLF and Kuki Inpi.

The protest was held condemning ITLF and Kuki inpi for failing to take their roles in supporting the cadres as promised.

Sources said that the Kuki volunteers deployed at the frontline have not received their ration for the past three-four days.

Most of the volunteers were from poor families and they were compelled to protest as their welfare and rations including other provisions were ignored by authorities like ITLF and Kuki Inpi, sources further said.

Meanwhile, Kuki armed miscreants opened fire from Lalungphai, Churachandpur district towards Sugnu, Kakching District Meitei Village. However, Meitei volunteers did not retaliate to the gunfire.
