This was the second instance of power outage this week reportedly caused by issues in power supply from Ningthoukhong to Churachandpur and Pherzawl district.

As per sources, insulators puncture somewhere between Ningthoukong and Khengzang Power substation is suspected but the exact spot is yet to be detected.

The source also said that the work on fixing the issue will be initiated once the MSPCL has detected the problem but it is unlikely to happen till Sunday, which means that the power blackout might be extended for another 24 hours at least.

The blackout has also affected internet connectivity as most of the mobile towers are without power back-ups. In some areas, the network services reportedly slowed down, bringing communication problems in the two districts.
