Manipur Health Services director Dr K Rajo on Wednesday said that the state will be recruiting many nurses and no nurses, ANM or GNM will face unemployment.
Dr Rajo was speaking as chief guest at the Capping, Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony of the 20 batch ANM/FHW of the Female Health Workers' Training School, Imphal at GM Hall in Imphal West.
Stressing on the role of nurses in the community health services, Rajo said that the nursing management system in the state has been improved a lot in the last few years with a total of 424 sub-centres run only by ANM.
The state will be recruiting many more nurses and the department has proposed the state authority for appointment of a director of nursing, he said.

Pointing out that the demand of nurses from Manipur in overseas is very high, he said nnurses, ANM or GNM will face unemployment.
Dr Rajo lauded the efforts and dedication shown by nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic regardless of the various stigma and discrimination. He further exhorted the passed out students to stick to the ethics and stay away from any discrimination in their line of duty.
The present government with the new health minister who himself is a medical practitioner has been working on bringing a robust healthcare system in the state, he said.
The Health and Family Welfare department will take up every possible measure for the upliftment of the Nursing sector, he mentioned.
The function was attended by additional director of Family Welfare Dr N Dihe Mao as president; registrar of Manipur Nursing Council Th Nandarani Devi; principal of GNM School, Churachandpur N Tangbi Devi and nursing superintendent of JNIMS Mutum Jibanlata Devi as guests of honour.
