Manipur to observe two-day state mourning in honour of deceased former Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal

The National flag will be flown at half mast on all the buildings throughout the state on April 26 and 27.

Manipur government has ordered a two-day state mourning as a mark of respect to deceased Parkash Singh Badal, former Punjab chief minister.

According to an order issued by the secretariat, General Administrative Department (GAD), a two-day state mourning will be observed on April 26 and 27 and the National flag will be flown at half mast during the mourning period on all the buildings throughout the state where the National Flag is flown regularly. There will be no official entertainment during the period of state mourning, it stated.

"In pursuance to the wireless message No. 03/01/2023-PUBLIC, dated 25th April 2023 from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, the governor of Manipur hereby orders that as a mark of respect to the departed dignitary Shri Parkash Singh Badal, former Chief Minister of Punjab, two days of state mourning will be observed on 26th and 27th April, 2023 and the National flag will be flown at half mast during the mourning period on all the buildings throughout the state where the National Flag is flown regularly and there will be no official entertainment during the period of state mourning," the GAD stated in its order.

Badal, a five-time former chief minister of Punjab, breathed his last at a private hospital in Mohali on Tuesday aged 95.
