Manipur: Three released after abduction

The victims alleged that the vehicle which they were using and the money had been taken by the miscreants.

Three ureca nut traders who were abducted by miscreants on Monday evening were set free at an area at Phoubakchao in Bishnupur on Tuesday noon after being physically assaulted.

The three victims are MV Abdul Satar, 37,  Md Amir Khan ,37, and Md Shakir Ahamed, 32, all from Kwakta are being hospitalised at JR Hospital in Telipati, Imphal.

According to the statement of the victims, they were abducted by the miscreants from Thinungei area in Bishnupur as they were returning towards Kwakta from Lilong after collecting business money.

They alleged that the vehicle which they were using and the money had been taken by the miscreants.

A team of All Manipur Meitei Pangal Club’s Organisation led by its working president Rahaman Yumkhaibam visited the victims in the hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

Speaking to the media, Rahaman condemned the incident, stating that even if the victims had carried out any illegal activities, they should be given the opportunity to rectify themselves, with proper counselling.

Such abduction and assault for alleged indulging in illegal activities is highly condemned, he said.

“Let us take the time together to bring those people indulged in illegal activities to the right path,” he said, warning of arising unwanted misunderstanding if such ways of abduction and assault continues.
