Manipur: Three minor boys abandoned

Any person who can produce evidence of their relationship with the children can claim the three children from the office of the CWC, Imphal East.

District Child Protection Unit, Social Welfare department (DCPU-SWD) on Wednesday declared three minor boys as ‘abandoned’ as per the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Imphal East, and notified the individuals who could identify and claim them.

A release signed by DCPU SWD protection officer Sushma Elangbam stated that three boys aged 5, 4 and 1, who reportedly are sons of Sanayai and Nazima from Yairipok Changngamdabi Mathak Leikai, Imphal East had been declared as abandoned as per the CWC, Imphal East.

The three boys had been declared abandoned as per the CWC, Imphal East order dated September 6, and GD Entry number has been recorded at the Porompat police station bearing the GD no. 12/PRT-PS/2-22 dated 07/09/2022, it stated.

It stated that any person who can produce evidence of their relationship with the children can claim the three children from the office of the CWC, Imphal East at Kongba Kshetri Leikai or from the office of the Specialised Adoption Agency (SAA), Imphal East at Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal (South lane no. 5 B).

It mentioned the individuals concerned to claim the children by producing the relevant documents to prove their identity and their relationship with the children within two months for Danish and four months for Habib and Nawaz. Failure to do so, the children will be declared as legally free for adoption and hence processed accordingly as per the provisions of the Adoption Regulations Act, 2017, it added.

In a statement addressed to the Porompat police station, the protection officer also stated that the boys expressed that their parents had been separated. Although the grandfather of the boys was contacted, no one has come forward to claim the children, it added.
