Manipur: Three arrested over arson at SDC office

The three individuals have been remanded in police custody for four days, Manipur Police stated.

Police Control Room, Manipur Police stated that three individuals were arrested on Monday in connection with the incident of burning of SDC Kumbi office on September 26.  

The arrested persons are Moirangthem Ajaykumar, 22, Wahengbam Prabhakar, 27, Khumanthem Jesper, 23, stated a release. 

They have been remanded in police custody for four days, it stated.

Efforts are on to arrest other accused persons in connection with the incident, it mentioned. 

During the last 24 hours, the situation in the state was tense but under control, it stated. 

Search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts, it stated. 

During the search operation, one 7.62 mm AK Rifle with magazine, one 7.62 SLR Rifle with magazine, one 9 mm SMG Rifle with magazine, one 9 mm Pistol with magazine, one 12 mm bore single Barrel Gun, six 36 live Hand Grenade, 58 live rounds ammunition, two detonator, two tube launcher, one wireless Handset (Baofeng) with charger, one BP jacket, two BP iron plate and five Arming Ring from Leirongthel Pitra Uyok Ching areas, Thoubal district, were seized.

Movement of 107 and 81 nos. of vehicles carrying essential items along NH-37 and NH-2 respectively has been ensured, it mentioned.  Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and security convoys are provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it said. 

It stated that a  total of 110 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and no one was detained by Police in connection with violations in different districts of the state.

It appealed to the general public not to believe in rumors and be aware of false videos. Any circulation of unfounded videos etc. may be confirmed from the rumor free number - 9233522822 of the Central Control room, it stated. 

It further appealed to public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
