Normal life has been paralysed in Tamenglong district due to the downpour of torrential rains accompanied by hailstorm and thunder in Tamenglong district of Manipur since Sunday.
As bad weather continues, power supply has been cut off frequently and it is yet to be restored till the time of filing this report.
The department has informed that the 33kv HT line from Rengpang to Tamenglong district headquarters has a line fault and the control panel got tripped. Measures are underway to restore the lines, as per sources.
Meanwhile, most of the schools run by government and private schools will remain closed till Tuesday.
Following the yellow alert, and declaration of holiday for two days by the state government, the zonal education officer Tamenglong N Abonpou Christopher also issued a notification and declared holiday on Monday and Tuesday for the safety of young students.
According to the environmental and climate change department, Tamenglong received highest rainfall with 21.6 mm rainfall between 2 to 3 pm as the highest rainfall station on Sunday while Kaching district received wind at the rate of speed- 55.4 km/hr at Kakching during 2-3 pm.
It may be also mentioned that the district administration has informed all citizens of Tamenglong to report immediately to the concerned SDOs if any destruction happens due to rain and wind.
Rain and thunderstorms still continued on Monday, although no untoward incidents have been reported till filling of this report.
