Manipur situation normal in last 24 hours: Control Room

At least 12 arms, six ammunition and eight explosives were recovered during a search operations conducted in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal-West, Imphal-East, Thoubal, Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts by the State Police and Central Security forces.

The Police Control Room, Manipur Police on Saturday stated that the situation in the state is normal with sporadic incidents of firing and congregation of protesters in the last 24 hours.  

Search operations were conducted in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal-West, Imphal-East, Thoubal, Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts by the State Police and Central Security forces. During the operation, 12 arms, six ammunition and eight explosives were recovered, a release stated.

On Friday, security forces detected 25 packets of suspected opium weighing about 27 kg and arrested two persons, it stated.

It further stated that a total of 121 nakas/checkpoints were installed in different districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley, and police detained 1,580 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state.

The movement of 92 vehicles on NH-37 and 112 vehicles on NH-2 with essential items have been ensured, it further stated.

Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it mentioned.

It made an appeal to the general public not to believe in rumors and be aware of false videos. Any circulation of unfounded videos etc. may be confirmed from the rumor free number 9233522822 of the Central Control room, it stated.

It further appealed to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
