Shiv Sena Manipur State Unit strongly condemns the practice of divisive policy carried by some communities for their vested interest which could affect territorial integrity of Manipur, said vice president (administration) Shiv Sena Manipur State Unit M Tikendra Singh.
Addressing the media at the party’s head office at Babupara, Imphal on Sunday, he said Manipur is a small state of around 8,621 square miles settled by around 35 ethnic communities, including Meitei and Meitei Pangal.
However, some communities are allegedly practicing divisive policy which could affect territorial integrity of Manipur. Besides, people across the state are facing frequent issues and problems from economic blockade and bandh carried at national highways of Manipur by some communities or organisations in order to get their demands, he added.
Imposing economic blockade or indefinite bandh along the national highways have become one of the main factors for price hike of essential commodities and in Manipur, it is hard to reduce price once it has increased, Tikendra said.

He said communities or organisations can demonstrate agitation or protest however; they should demonstrate the protests in democratic form without affecting the people.
Tikendra also said that even as India is celebrating 75th year of Independence, some assembly constituencies in Manipur are still not getting political rights. More than 8 assembly constituencies in the state are not getting candidature rights but they can cast their votes, he added.
Tikendra said the state party president has departed for Mumbai to meet the central party leaders for discussing the upcoming local body election. He will be arriving Imphal on Thursday and will announce whether the party will nominate candidates for the said local body election including ADC election.
