Manipur security advisor, DGP visit Moreh

The visit included a thorough inspection of the Integrated Check Post (ICP), the border fencing, and other security arrangements along the Indo-Myanmar border.

In a significant development, Manipur Security Advisor Kuldiep Singh, accompanied by Director General of Manipur Police Rajiv Singh, conducted their first visit to the Indo-Myanmar border town of Moreh. The visit included a thorough inspection of the Integrated Check Post (ICP), the border fencing, and other security arrangements along the Indo-Myanmar border.

On Saturday morning, the Security Advisor and the DGP, along with senior officials from the Manipur Police, toured the border area to assess the prevailing security situation. Their inspection covered the stretch between Border Pillars 77 and 78 and the unfenced sections between Border Pillars 79 and 80. The team also evaluated the progress of border fencing being carried out by the Border Roads Task Force (BRTF), with officials providing detailed updates on the project’s status.

Following the field inspection, they visited the Integrated Check Post and the Manipur Police Inspection Bungalow in Moreh. During their visit, they interacted with personnel from the Commando (CDO) unit of the Manipur Police. Discussions focused on the challenges faced by security personnel in the area, with the Security Advisor and DGP commending their efforts in maintaining law and order.

Later, a high-level security meeting was convened at the Inspection Bungalow in Moreh. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of Tengnoupal, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Tengnoupal, the Commandant of the 5th Assam Rifles, the Additional SP (Operations), and other key officials.

The Security Advisor and DGP stressed the importance of bolstering security measures along the border and encouraged greater inter-agency coordination to address ongoing challenges.

The visit underscores the government’s focus on enhancing border security and addressing vulnerabilities along the Indo-Myanmar frontier. Both officials are expected to return in approximately three months for a follow-up inspection to review progress on the issues discussed.
