Manipur: Schools, colleges to be closed on Monday, Tuesday

The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure against the risks posed by the current weather conditions, CM N Biren Singh posted on Facebook.

All schools and colleges in Manipur will remain closed on Monday and Tuesday due to the current weather situation in the state.

“All schools and colleges will remain closed on 6th May and 7th May, 2024 due to the prevailing weather conditions in the state,” Chief Minister N Biren Singh posted on his official Facebook page.

“The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure against the risks posed by the current weather conditions,” the CM posted urging “all to stay updated and remain safe indoors”.

The state government is taking all necessary measures to protect lives and properties and assist those who have been affected, the CM said.

In a severe storm on Monday that lasted for hours, including hail stones and lightning, properties in terms of crores were lost while a man died after he was struck by lightning. In the same incident, his wife was injured while another man was injured in a separate lightning incident.
