After a long wait, the SDO, SDC and BDO office of Sawombung have shifted back to their original office building located at Sawombung, Imphal East on Thursday.
The said offices were shifted to DC complex, Porompat, Imphal East district about 10 years ago due to bad law and order situation in the state. The said offices were brought back to its former place at Sawombung, Imphal East as a part of the 100 days plan of the new BJP-led coalition government.
A ‘Home Coming Ceremony’ of Imphal East- I CD Block, Sawombung at its own office building located near Biramangol college, Sawombung, Imphal East, was held at the community hall located near Biramangol office, Sawombung, Imphal East in a programme organised by block development officer, Imphal East-I CD Block.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Khongbantabam Ibomcha said he has been able to fulfil the assurance made during his election campaign of 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly election under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister N Biren Singh.
For the past many years, the people of Sawombung have been suffering due to the shifting of the CD Block, Sawombung at DC Imphal East complex.
The work of people’s representatives is not to work for their own vested interests and benefits but to provide welfare and development.
He appealed to the people to form a habit of showing appreciation when progressive steps are taken instead of finding loopholes to criticise the development and welfare activities.
During the first few months after he was elected as representative of Lamlai assembly constituency, CD Block, Sawombung was brought back to its own office building, he said.
He will further mount pressure on the state government to set up a fire station at Sawombung and set up an agriculture university as most of the population of the assembly constituency are farmers, he said.
MLA, Th Lokeswor as guest of honour of the function said he appreciated the present state government for taking up such welfare steps as a part of the 100 days programme of BJP led coalition government.
He said MLAs are law makers and they should respect the law without showing any biases. The pradhans, zilla parishads and others should cooperate with their respective local MLAs so that development could be made at the maximum, said Lokeswor.
Block development officer, Sawombung H Jadumani and others attended the programme as guests of honour.
