Following the tragic incident at Longsai in Noney district on Wednesday where seven persons, including five students were killed and many others injured, condolence messages have come in from various corners, including the Manipur Congress.
Congress team led by MLA Okram Surjakumar Singh visited Raj Medicity to meet patients injured in the road mishap at Longsai Part III of Khoupum in Noney district.
Addressing the media, MLA Surjakumar extended condolences for people who lost their lives and expressed sadness about the tragic incident. He appealed to the concerned authorities to take up investigation of the case on how well school authorities were prepared for the picnic.
He also asked the state government to extend best support to bereaved families and medical support to injured patients.
The Liangmai Naga Katimai Ruangdi (LNKR), Federation of Civil Society Organisations, (FOCS) and Apunba Manipuri Matam Ishei Kanglup (AMMIK) also extended their deepest condolence to the bereaved families of the deceased of the Longsai tragic accident.
In a press release, LNKR said such a tragic incident causing the lives of many students is shocking and prayed that the Almighty God would grant and console the bereaved families with all the strength needed to get through this moment of grief.
Stating that the union will fondly uphold in prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured and struggling for their life at the hospital, it said, “May our most heartfelt sorrow and condolences bring forth all consolation and peace during such an excruciating time.”
It is indeed shocking and heart breaking to learn about the tragic accident that killed students of Thambalnu Higher Secondary School and injured many, said FOCS in release.
Stating that the members of FOCS observed a two minutes silence for those souls who died in the tragic accident, it wished for speedy recovery of those injured students who are undergoing treatment in different hospitals.
FOCS have decided to extend aid to the injured students, it said, appealing to the state government to do the same in the interest of humanity.
AMMIK in a release also extended their sincere condolences to the bereaved family of the accident victims.
It had announced it would hold all sorts of entertainment programmes on Wednesday as solidarity to the souls who died in the tragic accident.
