With mercury climbing to 40 degree Celsius, Manipur recorded the highest temperature ever on April 13, and temperature is currently hovering within 39 to 40 degree Celsius.
Tengnoupal district, particularly in Moreh town of the state, recorded a maximum of 40 degree Celsius on Thursday last week, according to data available from the State Directorate of Environment.
The town recorded 39.95 degree Celsius on April 19. Noney recorded 39.66 degree Celsius on Wednesday.
It was the fourth time in the last three days that the hill town experienced temperatures exceeding 39-degree Celsius.
The state capital, however, recorded 31.7 degree Celsius on April 19.
The unprecedented rise in maximum temperature was also reported in Manipur’s Imphal East with 35.16 degree Celsius, Churachandpur with 36.35 degree Celsius and Kakching district with 35.39 degree Celsius.
Tamenglong and Ukhrul district have the highest maximum temperature of 28.16 degree Celsius and 25.99 degree Celsius (recorded on Wednesday) respectively, among all districts of the state, according to the daily weather reports of the state Directorate of Environment and Climate Change
