The Heirok Part II Bazar Mamang Apunba Meira Paibi and Friends in Need Society took to the streets on Thursday at Heirok Part II Bazar in Thoubal district, condemning the recent arrest of three members of Pambei led UNLF by the NIA.
It is reported that three members, including the self-styled chief of army and chief of intelligence of the Pambei led UNLF which are in peace talk with the government were apprehended by the NIA in collaboration with Manipur Police and Assam Rifle from Kwakeithel area in Imphal West on Wednesday morning.
The three arrested individuals were reportedly airlifted to the national capital.

The protestors demanded unconditional release of the three members of the Pambei led UNLF.
Speaking to the media, a meira paibi leader said that the people of Manipur will not remain as silent spectators if the law enforcers indulge in the arrest and apprehend the people who are defending the Kuki aggression in the peripheral regions of valley.
She said, none of the valley brethren would find peaceful sleep as they have now, if there were no volunteers guarding the peripheral areas from Kuki aggression.
The protesters also urged the state government to exert pressure on the Central government to expedite the release of the three arrested individuals.
Meira Paibis also staged sit-in protests at various areas of Thoubal district condemning the arrest and demanded their release without any conditions.
Lourembam Apunba Meira Paibi Lup carried out a protest at Lourembam Chinglak, Pechi Apunba Meira Paibi Lup also carried out a protest at Pechi club ground. Meira Paibis of Langmeithet village also carried out a sit-in protest at Langmeithet community hall condemning the arrest.

Ukhongsang Apunba Meira Paibi Lup and Yairipok Meira Paibis also staged protests at Ukhongsang keithel macha and Yairipok keithel. Wangjing Lamding Apunba meira paibi lup carried out a protest at Wangjing Keithel and chanted various slogans. Members of All Wangjing-Lamding Meira Paibi Lup protested at Wangjing Heirok lamkhai along the national highway.
Heirok Part II keithel Mamang Apunba Meira Paibi and Friends in Need Society (FINE) Society Heirok also jointly carried out protest condemning the arrest of three Pambei led UNLF cadres by a joint team of Assam Rifles, Manipur Police and NIA from Kwakeithel area on Wednesday. Protesters demanded the state government to urge the Indian government for their unconditional release.
