Manipur Police uncover arms, ammo during search operation

The recovered items include one local made Rifle, two Baofeng handsets, one Chinese Hand-grenade, one Lethod Shell, one Pistol Magazine, two .303 Magazine charger base, among others.

As part of the search operations carried out in Manipur, a combined team of 37 Assam Rifles, Commando Unit Kakching and Sugnu Police station team recovered various arms and ammunition during a joint operation at Moltingcham village area under Sugnu PS on Tuesday.

According to the police, acting on reliable information from 165 TA ‘HOME & HUT’, Thoubal, the team, under the supervision of DP/Kakching, conducted the operation from 10.45 am to 11.55 am.

During the operation, they recovered various arms and ammunition from a secluded area in Moltingcham village.

The recovered items include one local made Rifle, two Baofeng handsets, one Chinese Hand-grenade, one Lethod Shell, one Pistol Magazine, two .303 Magazine charger base, one grenade key, one 2” Mortor Shell Wing (Tial), fourteen 9mm empty case, one misfired round  (M-16), seven empty case of INSAS Rifle, four empty case of AK Rifle, seven empty case of 7.62 mm SLR Rifle, five empty case of .303 Rifle and two local made ‘Pompy Launcher’.

The said items were seized at the spot by observing formalities, sources added. Meanwhile, a case has been taken up at Sugnu PS and investigations are underway.
