Manipur: Police rescue three abducted persons

Sahir Ali was rescued from Irong Khelakhong area, Kakching district and he revealed that he was kidnapped for ransom.

Lilong Police on Tuesday rescued a person who was abducted by some unknown miscreants from Waithou Bazar around 4.30 pm.

According to police, one Amjad Ali aged 56 of Lilong Atoukhong Mamang Leikai filed a complaint at Lilong PS that his son Sahir Ali, a mattress shop owner at Ushoipokpi Bazar, was abducted by unknown miscreants on Monday.

On receiving the complaint, Thoubal district police immediately swung into action and informed all district control rooms.

A joint police team followed the miscreants and searched the Mayang Imphal area. The kidnappers ran away seeing the large police team, said the report.

Sahir Ali was rescued from Irong Khelakhong area, Kakching district and he revealed that he was kidnapped for ransom. Later, he was handed over to his family members.

In another incident of abduction, it was reported that some unknown miscreants had abducted the driver and assistant of a Shaktiman truck owned by a sawmill owner namely Ibungo of Moirang.

Reports said that they were taken from the Petrol pump near Moirang Ngangkha Lawai of Bishnupur district around 5.30pm on Monday.

A large team of Bishnupur District Police searched multiple locations and chased some criminals who ran towards Loktak lake side at Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou area, added the reports.

The police team found the truck abandoned in one IVR, but the criminals were not found.

The abductees were later released by the criminals around 7.50 pm on the same day. They reached Imphal and joined their relatives.
