Manipur Police rescue abducted workers

Two workers of Apex Company were abducted by unknown armed miscreants from Lhanglom, Tamenglong District in the intervening night of Thursday.

The Police Control Room of Manipur Police on Thursday stated that two workers of Apex Company abducted by unknown armed miscreants from Lhanglom, Tamenglong District in the intervening night of Thursday were rescued after intense search operations by Manipur Police.

During the last 24 hours, the situation in the state was tense but under control with sporadic incidents of congregations of protestors, stated a release.

Search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Thoubal and Kakching district, it mentioned.

It stated that the dead bodies of the deceased persons in connection with the present violence in the state which had been kept preserved at the mortuaries of District Hospital Churachandpur, RIMS and JNIMS have been relocated to their respective hometowns or preferred locations and handed over to the next of kin for their final rites.

As many as 41 bodies to Churachandpur, 19 bodies to Kangpokpi from JNIMS and RIMS Imphal and four bodies from Churachandpur to Imphal have been relocated for handing over to next of kin of the deceased persons.

The movement of 284 and 178 vehicles along NH-37 and NH-2 respectively with essential items have been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it added.

A total of 142 Nakas/Checkpoints were installed in different Districts of Manipur, both in the hill and the valley and Police detained 211 persons in connection with violations in different districts of the state, it stated.

It appealed to the general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos. Any circulation of unfounded videos etc may be confirmed from the rumour free number 9233522822 of Central Control room. It further appealed to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately, it added.
