A combined team of state special commando, police team of Machi police station and a column of 16 Assam Rifles have arrested an active cadre of a proscribed underground organisation PLA on Monday.
The arrested person has been identified as Wangkhem Naocha alias Ashok, S/o W Khomdon resident of Ukhongsang Mamang Leikai, Thoubal district.
Police said based on a specific input about the presence of an active cadre of PLA at Ringpam village area a joint operation was launched led by officer-in-charge of state special commando L Bebekanda.
During the operation Naocha was arrested from the inter-village road near Ringpam village. During verification, Naocha disclosed that he is currently the 2nd lieutenant of the proscribed underground organisation.
The whole combined operation was conducted under the supervision of superintendent of police, state special commando unit Th Krishnatombi Singh.
