Imphal East district police on Tuesday seized over 1 kilo litre of Indian made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) including beer in Imphal East district which was about to be transported illegally.
Police said the huge consignment of liquors, including beer, were detected at around 9:00 am while conducting frisking and checking the suspected passers-by at Chingarel Tejpur, Imphal East district.
The district police team comprising commando, Imphal East unit under the command of officer-in-charge, CDO, Imphal East unit under the supervision of additional superintendent of police (Ops), Kh Herojit seized the liquors along with beer and arrested the smuggler.
The arrested person has been identified as one Moiranthem Suraj Singh, 20, son of late M Ibomcha Singh of Langjing Achouba, Imphal West.
The team seized 720 cans of Kingfisher (500 ml) beer; 1,296 bottles of Old Monk (180ml, 375ml, 500ml, 750ml); 192 bottles of Blender Pride (750ml, 375ml, 180ml); 240 bottles of Sterling (180ml) and 636 bottles of McDowell (180ml, 375ml, 750ml).
The arrested person along with the seized items were handed over to Excise Department, Imphal East for taking up necessary legal proceedings.
