Manipur: Opium seized, one arrested

The district cammando, Bishnupur unit seized 850 gram of Opium (Kani) from Loktak project crossing, Bishnupur district around 6.30 pm on Monday.

District commando, Bishnupur unit seized 850 gram of Opium (Kani) and arrested a person from Loktak project crossing, Bishnupur district around 6.30 pm on Monday.

The arrested person has been identified as one Thangkholun alias Thanglun Haokip, 38, son of Ngamthang Haokip of Kuki Lamdan, Churachandpur.

Police said that Thangkholun was arrested after he was detained by the commando team while conducting frisking and checking at the crossing of Loktak Project road.

While checking, 850 gram of opium were detected and seized from his possession. The seized opium was sealed by observing necessary formalities.

The arrested person and the seized items were handed over to Bishnupur police station for further necessary action.
