Manipur: One suspect involved in abduction arrested

Some individuals who were said to be travelling from Churachandpur to Kangpokpi were reportedly abducted at Kangchup area on Tuesday.

Manipur Police on Saturday arrested one of the suspects involved in the incident of abduction of civilians at Kangchup.

Some individuals who were said to be travelling from Churachandpur to Kangpokpi were reportedly abducted at Kangchup area on Tuesday.

Manipur Police Control Room on Saturday said that one person, suspected to be involved in the abduction, has been arrested.

The police said that raids are continuing to arrest other culprits involved in the incident.
During the last 24 hours, the situation in the state was tense but under control with the sporadic congregation of protestors, the police further said.

Search operations were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal West, Kakching and Kangpokpi districts, it added.

The police also said that movement of 340 vehicles along NH-37 with essential items have been ensured. Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, it added.

While appealing to the general public not to believe in rumours and be aware of false videos, the police informed that any circulation of unfounded videos etc may be confirmed from the rumour free number - 9233522822 of Central Control room.
