Manipur MLAs meet Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, demand SoO withdrawal

A total of 23 Manipur BJP and NPP legislators put forward the demand before the Union Defence minister to bring an end to violence in the state.

A delegation of Manipur MLAs and ministers led by the Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker met Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in Delhi on Monday and apprised him of the ground situation of violence-hit Manipur.

A total of 23 BJP and NPP legislators put forward certain points before the Union Defence minister for his consideration to contain violence in Manipur.

The legislators also demanded the Centre to bring a peaceful environment to the state by putting an end to the ongoing violence and maintaining territorial integrity in the state at all costs.

They demanded stringent action against insurgent groups for violating the ground rules of the state.

Additionally, the legislators also asked for the withdrawal of SoO and bring the militants back to their designated camps. Moreover, they asked for the Centre to provide clarification on allegations put forward by a few militant groups in the state against a few central BJP leaders for giving support during the 2017 election.

The delegates include Minister Th Basantakumar, minister Govindas, minister Sapam Ranjan, MLA Noorul Hassan, MLA L Rameshor, MLA K Robindro, MLA RK Imo, MLA Ashab Uddin, MLA Th Shyamkumar.
