Manipur media lifts boycott on BJP

The decision was taken following the assurance given by the state BJP president to clear pending advertisement bills of the recently concluded 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Elections within one month.

Media houses in Manipur on Monday resolved to lift the boycott imposed on the publication of news related to BJP Manipur Pradesh following assurance given by the state president to clear pending advertisement bills of the recently concluded 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly Elections within one month.

The decision was taken during a joint meeting on Monday at Manipur Press Club. 

President of Editors' Guild Manipur Khogendra Khomdram, said in a statement that the meeting however, resolved to continue the boycott on news related to state government, its ministers, and all departments, corporations, societies and authorities till the pending bills are cleared or an understanding is reached.

A joint meeting of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union, Editors' Guild Manipur and Manipur Hills Journalists' Union had on Saturday decided to boycott news related to Manipur government and BJP Manipur Pradesh following their failure to respond to repeated appeals to clear pending bills by 4 pm of the same day.
