In a brazen daylight heist, an unidentified armed miscreant looted over Rs. 6 lakh from UCO Bank in Kakching Keithel Lamlong Mari Phangba under Kakching police station in Kakching district on Wednesday at around 3.50 pm.
As per sources, a masked man, armed with both a pistol and a knife, carried out the robbery.
The man threatened the bank’s security guard at gunpoint before forcing his way into the manager’s office. He then ordered the customers and staff to leave their mobile phones outside and herded them into the manager’s room.
The robber reportedly emptied the cashier’s counter and fled with the money. Bank staff confirmed that the amount stolen totaled Rs 6,49,920.
A case has been registered at Kakching Police Station, and an investigation is currently underway.
