A combined team of Bishnupur district police led by Addl SP OPS BPR, Addl SP L&O BPR, SDPO BPR, DSP CDO BPR, OC CDO BPR and OC NBL PS assisted by CDO BPR teams under the supervision of SP Bishnupur rescued a man on Wednesday who was abducted by unknown armed miscreants.
As per information, one Leichombam Imocha Singh (46), son of (L) Leichombam Charai Singh of Leimaram Mamang Leikai was abducted by some unknown armed miscreants near Leimaram Warriors Rehabilitation Centre on Wednesday at around 10.10 am.
The police team rushed to the area upon receiving the news of the abduction and carried out a cordon and search operation in the nearby areas of Leimaram and Irengbam and was able to rescue the person from a nearby field.
Reinforcement teams were also called and cordoned the Keinou village area and started searching the village and nearby paddy field areas.
One Carbine with magazine, one 9 mm pistol with magazine and one MI6 empty magazine, which was suspected to have been thrown away by miscreants while escaping, were found in an area near Lower Canal between Irengbam and Keinou during the search operation.
Further, house-to-house search operations were conducted at Keinou Awang Leikai village till 12.30 pm but the miscreants could not be found.
