Joint bodies of Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai on Saturday appealed to the Manipur government and the authority concerned to let the NFSA rice available to the beneficiaries on time.

The joint bodies are Chingmeirong Development Organisation, Chingmeirong Mamang Awang Leikai Singlup Committee and Meira Paibi Association of Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai.

Since the appointment of a new agent of the Fair Price Shop (FPS) No 269 of Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai in April, the people of the locality have not been getting the rice which is to be distributed under NFSA, the joint bodies stated in a release.

It is unfortunate that the distribution of NFSA rice has been halted for some hidden political games when the whole state is suffering from the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the joint bodies stated.

It also stated that the previous FPS agents had collected the ration cards from the beneficiaries in the name of renewal and had not returned them to the beneficiaries.

Hence, the locals of Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai have been facing huge doubts regarding the numbers of months in which the rice under NFSA and PMGKAY were distributed to the locals during April 2020 till March 2021, it added.

In order to clear all the doubts, it also drew the attention of the authorities concerned to look into the matter and take up necessary measures.
