Search operations conducted by security forces in several districts yielded a large haul of arms and war-like stores including local-made bombs from Churachandpur district on Saturday.
A release from the Police Control Room stated, search operations were conducted in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kakching and Churachandpur districts.
The search operations yielded one arm, 14 country made Pumpi guns, 120 rounds of assorted ammunition, two kg of gun-powder, three kg of country-made Pumpi gun ammunition, one country-made bomb with triggering mechanism from Churachandpur district.
Meanwhile, new CRPF deployments have started in many vulnerable areas, including Chingphei village near Phubala and Lower Khoirentak village near Loktak Project.
The police release further said, movement of 312 vehicles along NH 37 Imphal-Jiribam road and 316 vehicles along NH 2 Imphal-Dimapur road with essential items had been ensured.
Mention may be made that an economic blockade has been going on in both the national highways.
Strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches in order to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles, the release added.
