Manipur lad runs environmental awareness marathon

An environmentalist from Manipur, Anish Ahamad, ran his 8th environmental awareness solo marathon in New Delhi under the Make Indian Green Campaign with the theme of ‘Green Delhi, Green NCR, Save Sparrows, Save Forests, Save Wildlife and Avoid Single-use Plastic’ on Wednesday.

The environmental campaign was organised by the department of Forest, Government of Delhi under the supervision of chief conservator of Forest Delhi and deputy conservator of South Delhi, stated a release. The programme was also flagged off from Asola Wildlife Sanctuary, Tughlakabad NCT Delhi, it stated. 

The environmental awareness marathon was flagged off by section officer Administration DCF South Delhi Rakesh Malik and education assistant, Bombay Natural History Education Center South Delhi Akshay Dweivedi, it stated.

The event was planned for Anish Ahamad to spread the message to all across Delhi through Marathon continuously for 4-days which will be around 120 km all across Delhi. Anish Ahamad safely reached India gate on the first day, it mentioned.  

Anish Ahamad has conducted such environmental awareness marathons in three North eastern states of India, namely Meghalaya, Tripura and Manipur, it added.
