A combined team of Manipur police and the Indian Army recovered and seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition from Kangpokpi and Imphal East district during a 72-hour long joint operation.
The Indian Army in a press statement, stated that acting on specific intelligence of presence of arms and ammunition in the general area of Chanung Top in Imphal East District, Manipur the combined team launched a joint operation on Wednesday.
It stated the operation continued for 72 hours in which patrol dogs and explosive detection dogs were used resulting in recovery of a huge cache of arms and ammunition.
The combined team recovered 13 Long range Mortars, four Burmese Iron rod Improvised Explosive Device, one Modified Grenade Launcher, one G3 Rifle, six 303 Rifles, one .22 Pistol, a Grenade, 25 locally made Improvised Explosive Devices, 115 rounds ammunition of various weapons, three magazines of various weapons, two Radio Sets and other war like stores.
The recovered items have been handed over to Manipur Police.
Search operation conducted in Bishnupur
A combined security force conducted a Cordoned and Search Operation (CASO) at Malom Hawairou areas in Bishnupur District on Friday from 6.30 am to 8.05 am.
According to police, a joint team of Bishnupur SDPO, Nambol Police, two teams of Bishnupur CDO and a platoon of G-69 Battalion CRPF presently deployed at Molom Oil Depot under the supervision of SP Bishnupur conducted the operation.
During the operation, the joint team verified 150 individuals of 60 houses. However, no seizure and arrests were made during the operation.
