The Kakching district commando seized 606 grams of suspected heroin powder and arrested a drug trafficker during an operation at Pallel Maning Leikai at around 8 pm Sunday.
The arrested person has been identified as one Akhup Lamkang, 60, son of (L) Wangtoi Lamkang of Sibong Khudengthabi, Tengnoupal District, presently staying at Thamlapokpi, Chandel district.
Police said the operation was led by officer-in-charge, Kakching Commando unit, Md Abash Khan under the supervision of superintendent of police, Kakching district, Shrey Vats.
During the operation, Akhup was detained and two soap cases containing suspected heroin powder were seized from his possession.
Upon interrogation, he revealed that he had concealed another 46 similar soap cases at his residence located at Thamlapokpi. The commando immediately raided his residence after informing the police control room of Chandel district and seized 46 soap cases suspected to contain heroin powder.
On weighing the suspected heroin powder, it was found to weigh around 606 grams in total.
The arrested person along with the seizures has been taken to Kakching Police station for further necessary legal action on the same day.
