Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey, fulfilling her assurance to provide well-equipped Ambulance in hill districts, on Wednesday extended financial assistance to IRCS, Senapati district for purchasing an ambulance to be operated in hill districts.
IRCS Senapati District Branch Secretary Daniel and IRCS members received the help from the Governor during a meeting held at Raj Bhavan, Imphal, a release from the Governor’s Secretariat stated.
The team thanked the Governor for such initiative and also briefed her on the humanitarian services continuously carried out at the relief camps as well as for victims of the recent hailstorm in the State, it stated. Uikey further encouraged IRCS, Senapati to continue their selfless services for those in distress, it mentioned.
Meanwhile, Chief of Operations, Medecines Sans Frontieres (MSF), Dr Swapan Kachop along with two others also called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan, Imphal, wherein they briefed on the activities carried out to provide medical care for the people in Manipur since 2005, the Raj Bhavan stated
MSF, also known as Doctors Without Borders, provides medical assistance to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters or exclusion from healthcare, it noted. It also mentioned the services for the ethnic violence affected displaced people in relief camps.
It also highlighted the challenges facing MSF during transportation of medical supplies to different parts of the state post the ethnic clash that erupted in the state in May, 2023. The Governor appreciated their noble services for the sick and needy people in the state and further assured assistance from her office whenever the need arises, it added.
Registrar, Manipur University, Professor W Chandbabu Singh; HOD, Commerce, Professor N Tejmani Singh; Professor Robita Sorokhaibam and Director, IQAC, Professor A Rajmani Singh also called on the Governor this evening at Raj Bhavan and invited her to grace the upcoming International conference slated to be held in Manipur University.
