Manipur Governor La Ganesan lauds Indian Red Cross society

La Ganesan stated that no service is as great and valuable as the service for the poor, needy and the less fortunate persons.

Manipur Governor La Ganesan on Tuesday said the philanthropic services rendered by the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) are really remarkable and commendable.

He was speaking at the Patron Certificates distribution function of IRCS, Manipur State Branch at Raj Bhavan in Imphal. He said that the society has been rendering yeoman services for the downtrodden and needy for the last several years when they suffered from various types of natural calamities.

It has been extending invaluable services to the widows whose husbands died due to gun violence or cancer or HIV/AIDS with the support of the International Red Cross Committee and IRCS, National Headquarters.

He continued that IRCS is one of the internationally known organisations devoted mainly to philanthropic and humanitarian services. Red Cross Societies around the world have been extending help to millions of needy people.

It has also been endeavouring over the years with the objective to create and foster a spirit of understanding among the people of the world. La Ganesan stated that no service is as great and valuable as the service for the poor, needy and the less fortunate persons.

Their service for the poor and needy is indeed commendable and praiseworthy. He also expressed hope that IRCS will keep continuing humanitarian services to the unfortunate and needy people of the state.

He also distributed patron certificates to MLA Th Lokeshwar Singh; member, Zilla Parishad, Imphal East Seram Neken Singh; H Bikramjit Singh, Dr Y Mohen, and Dr L Manglem Singh. He also handed over the meritorious volunteer award to the president, IRCS, Senapati Branch. Later, Governor flagged off an ambulance of IRCS, Manipur from Raj Bhavan.

Secretary, IRCS, Manipur State Branch RK Nimai Singh, volunteers from Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal and Senapati participated in the function.
