Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Monday visited a relief camp at Youth Hostel, Khuman Lampak in Imphal East and attended the blessing ceremony of new born babies at the relief camp.
Governor attended the rituals of the newly born babies and gave her blessings to the babies, the Raj Bhavan said in a press release. She also expressed her best wishes for the babies and their parents, the release added.
After the ritual ceremony, the governor said, all efforts are on for the restoration of peace and harmony in the state. The governor presented gifts along with cash to the mothers. Altogether, 36 women of whom 24 pregnant and 12 lactating mothers, are in the camp.
After the ceremony, talking to the media, the governor said, all stakeholders need to work together for the restoration of peace and harmony in Manipur. She said, a sense of brotherhood has to be restored so that both the communities could live together as usual.
When asked about the demand of convening a special session of Manipur Legislative Assembly, the governor said, as demanded by CSOs, she has advised the government to decide the date of summoning the Assembly session, accordingly, the Raj Bhavan said.
