Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey suggests permanent housing scheme for IDPs

Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey has urged for a permanent housing society for displaced families to the government.

Speaking to the media on the side of a programme, she stressed the importance of swift government intervention to provide permanent housing solutions.

“I have urged Chief Minister N Biren Singh to expedite efforts towards resettlement, ensuring a conducive environment for families, particularly for children to thrive”, the Governor said.

Speaking about the ongoing violence in the state, the Governor expressed confidence that the situation is gradually improving across the state. Peace is slowly returning, she said but expressed concern for displaced families.

The governor lauded the proactive measures undertaken by the government to support displaced families, including initiatives to facilitate child education and health support.

Informing of her interaction with CM Biren, she said they discuss bringing normalcy as soon as possible. Despite sporadic incidents of violence reported in certain areas, there is improvement in the situation, she said.

“In order to chart a path towards lasting peace, it is imperative for the government to devise comprehensive plans for those residing in camps, addressing to ensure long term stability”, the Governor added.
