Manipur government's assistance sought in preserving shrine in Mandalay

The Myanmar Meitei Development Association appealed to Chief Minister N Biren to extend necessary assistance in preserving the Ebudhou Pakhangba Shrine in Myanmar.

The Myanmar Meitei Development Association (MMDA) in Mandalay, Myanmar has urged Manipur Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren to extend necessary assistance in preserving and protecting the Ebudhou Pakhangba Shrine in Myanmar

Located at Tadalel (Tadaley) village in Amarapura township under Ebudhou Pakhangba Mandalay division, the Ebudhou Pakhangba shrine is an important sacred place of the Manipuri diaspora residing in Myanmar, the MMDA said in a release.

The association met with the land buyer earlier on February 24, 2023 and held talks for redeeming the land, where the shrine is constructed, the release stated.  

Both the sides reached an agreement for redeeming the land plot. However, the association was asked to pay a redemption price of Rs 1,500 lakh and after necessary negotiation, the land rate was dropped to Rs 1,400 lakh, it mentioned.

The association further reiterated its appeal to Chief Minister N Biren to extend necessary assistance in preserving the shrine.
