A day after the Special Judge (NIA), Imphal West granted bail to Mark Thangmang Haokip, the Manipur government, represented by joint secretary (home), filed an application praying for the cancellation of the bail.
The state filed for setting aside or modifying the order granted for bail and grant permission to take Mark Haokip to custody for further trial.
The application counsel submitted that the order of granting bail overruled the judgment passed by the Manipur High Court on November 2, 2022.

The NIA court perused the application and heard the counsel and found some grounds to be considered regarding the issue raised on the application.
The court also found that the PR bond, that was directed to pay while granting the bail, has not been furnished yet.
Therefore, the court issued notice to superintendent of Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa, returnable on or before April 3. Hence, the court fixed the next hearing and for objection on April 3.
Meanwhile, the operation of the order granted for bail was kept in abeyance until further order.
It may be mentioned that the court of Special Judge (NIA), Imphal West on Tuesday granted bail to Mark Thangmang Haokip alias Mark T Haokip (38) of Molnom, Churachandpur, who was arrested in connection with an FIR registered by Imphal Police, on execution of a PR bond of Rs 2 lakh.
